Two feet of snow is no deterrent to Cait Scudder who is heading to Costa Rica with books for the new public library in the coffee-farming village of Santa Cruz. Lucky Cait!
The library is part of Reader to Reader’s Beyond el Campo project, which builds libraries, and holds literacy camps and workshops in rural Costa Rica.
The new Spanish-language books were generously donated by Amherst College’s Frost Library.
In addition to Cait Scudder, two other Amherst College students, Alex Strecker and Mari Crook, traveled this month to Santa Cruz. Between all three of them they brought hundreds of books to expand the library which opened its doors in July.
